The handout section of prohect

Since we want to bring our aquarium to the real, the main step is to modify a tank so that it can become the model for us to perform our sensors

There are several steps when we try to make this:

1.

Component selection and shipment: Out of the project’s purpose, we searched many items on Amazon and made a shopping list, including a glass tank, an acrylic board , a 12V water-pump and so on. These items were all funded by Prof. Mario Berges. Thanks for his support and help.

2.     Cutting acrylic board:

The initial acrylic board didn’t match the size of the glass tank, so that we needed to cut it in exact style. In the workshop of ECE department, we were able to use laser cutter for  reaching this goal.

3.     Punch holes in acrylic sheets:

In our opinion, the aquarium is a mutable and interactive system. With this in mind, the acrylic board should have some holes so that the water can move through the mud and the water environment. At first we calculated the position of holes and then used electric drill to punch the holes.

4.     Fix acrylic board by using hot glue:

The acrylic board should be firmly fixed into the glass tank and waterproof measures are required at the joint of board and the glass tank. What’s more, for the sake of beauty, the connection should be clean and transparent. Finally, we chose hot glue as the material.

5.     Collecting video material for our presentation :

During the process of installation of glass tank, we collect the video material. As we used the water-level sensor and pump, some testing conditions are underwater. To see how does it work and make this testing more clearly in our video, we used Dji Osmo Action and GoPro 7 camera to help us shot underwater pictures.
