Our CART Lab at Purdue University demonstrated a live Transit Signal Priority (TSP) system at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) 60th Anniversary Symposium in Ann Arbor, MI.

The Demo

A transit bus equipped with V2X onboard units drove through Mcity, showcasing how TSP leverages Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication to enable smarter, more adaptive traffic signals — improving mobility and efficiency for priority vehicles in real-world traffic.

Real-World Deployment

This same system is already operational along the Ellsworth corridor in southern Ann Arbor, serving Route 6 buses since August 2024, as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart Intersections project.
